Jim Matheos makes Guitar World's "100 Greatest Metal Guitarists" List

71 - Jim Matheos
Matheos formed Fates Warning as a stright-up metal band, but gradually the group took on a prog-rock direction. Matheos is a technically precise player and a complex individual, as demonstrated on the 1997 release Pleasant Shade of Gray: the title -- indeed, the only -- song is an hour long magnum opus of intricately woven time changes and mystifying chord patterns. Hey, no guts, no glory.

Good to see Jim Matheos make the list in Guitar World. I have just recently discovered their music and seen them in concert last year They are just awsome and I can't wait till they come out with something new.

It's good to see Jim on te list. He is a great guitar player and writes incredible songs. As for me, Iv'e re-discoverd disc one of Still Life, the live version of APSOG. Fantastic! Can't wait for the new album.

Jim Matheos is a great guitarist. Not just in the metal & prog world but also his acoustic work on his solo albums is fresh & breathe taking. We need to have more of his guitar work availiable to the public so they can see what makes Jim a great musician & composer.

Jim matheos is one of the best songwriters of the world and I'm glad to see him in that list. I think he should be on the top ten list of greastest Metal Guitarists because fates music it's amazing.
