Rumor: Mark Zonder to leave FW?
So far this hasn't been confirmed, but here is the info as reported by Blabber Mouth (http://www.roadrun.com/blabbermouth.net/) -
FATES WARNING drummer Mark Zonder has revealed that he has no
intentions of touring with the band in support of their upcoming CD,
due later in the year. Asked by a fan what he hopes to accomplish in
the future, both personally and with FATES WARNING, Zonder
said, "Actually after this recording of the new FATES album, I will
not be touring with them anymore. I am not sure about recordings in
the future either with them. There are many things happening right
now: The MONTROSE stuff, Joacim Cans solo that I will be playing
some festivals in Europe, as well as Glenn Snelwar's album that will
be out in a few months. I am still working with Gary [Wehrkamp,
SHADOW GALLERY guitarist] and D.C. [Cooper, SILENT FORCE, ex-ROYAL
HUNT vocalist] in ALFA-DOG. The future is pretty wide open. I would
love to do some clinics, but we will see."
Mark also mentions this on his website:

I will also miss Mark. However, Jim and the guys need to hear Alex Arellano's work with Power of Omens for Mark's replacement. Alex has recently departed PoO. In addition, I believe Alex was a student of Mark's at one time. Alex is a great drummer!

No big deal. Mark said he wont be touring on the upcoming gigs. He didn't tour Disconnected too. He didn't say he'd quit the band, so let's keep the focus on what's really important and undoubtful: the new album!

Okay, I think it's a little early to start thanking Mark for his efforts, all though I must say...If this is true...I'll take a silent minute for the past fates warning almbums with Mark. Those album changed my live and they still keep changing it...there will never ba another Mark Zonder ever...so original...
Man. I sound like he died or somthing...sorry about that.

Thanks Mark for all the past years of hardwork and great licks you have given. I'm saddened that I missed you on the last tour. My autographed tickets will now have a big vacant gap where your autograph should be.
Best of luck. I will watch for your new material.

Sort of off subject I must say. By the way, it's not who invented it, it's who takes part in it. Also, this is a Fates Warning site.

sooner or later shit like that happens when musicians start with projects...it sux if zonder leaves cause he is GOD!!!

Everyone changes! Drummers need to lend their pulse to other projects sometimes. Just as songwriters need to be around other players too. Non musicians dont understand sometimes that being in a band is a marriage, and sometimes you have to change partners! There are alot of good drummers out there, and i hope Fates will go on! Mark is the SHIT!,but we still havent heard that balls out! No Exit part two yet. Bring back those crushing galloping desert guitar rhthym jams! God bless Fates Warning....

I don't know how hard it would be for Fates to find a new drummer but if this rumor is confirmed, that sucks. I thought APSOG was Mark's best recording. I was scared of something like this happening because everyone are involved with other projects. Can't wait for the new album. I hope it is'nt thier last.
