FWX complete track listing

Posted on Blabbermouth.net -

Metal Blade Records has released the complete track listing for the upcoming FATES WARNING album, "FWX", due on October 5. The follow-up to 2000's "Disconnected" was recorded at Carriage House studios in Stamford, Connecticut.

Commented singer Ray Alder: "We went into this record being as creative as possible, and we worked really hard. We were facing some big changes that made the writing and recording a long, arduous process. The result is a record that is a lot heavier than past records. It's also more technical than any other record we've done."

"FWX" track listing:

01. Left Here
02. Simple Human
03. River Wide Ocean Deep
04. Another Perfect Day
05. Heal Me
06. Sequence # 7
07. Crawl
08. A Handful Of Doubt
09. Stranger (With A Familiar Face)
10. Wish

Fates Warning needs Paul Craddick.
come out, come out where ever you are

My vote goes to Sean Reinert from Cynic/Gordian Knot as a good MZ replacement. Sean can completely pull off Zonder at his best and then some. His style IMO fits with the band nicely. Someone should get word out to Jim and the boys to try and look Sean up!

Maybe Mark will change his mind and not quit the band - he's contributed a lot to the shaping of the FW style
However, if not, probably Paul Craddick would be one of the best obvious choices...

Nick DV is on tour withn Tears For Fears right now, and I've heard a new Spocks album is in the works..expected to come out sometime next year.

I don't think Spocks is done, but I doubt it would be past him to play on a future album/tour since there already is a relationship with him.

there's a lot of great players who could do the job: donati, mangini,d'virgillo, steve smith (why not??),sean reinhart, danny carey, tim "herb alexander,

but my own choice remains Nick d'virgillo because he alredy did and i'm not sure about spock's fate...

Mike Portnoy would make an excellent guest drummer for the next FW album. Will miss you in FW Mark Zonder. I've admired your playing for years.

Paul Craddick doesn't exactly have the desire to do "Progressive" music. It was for this reason he departed Enchant.

AFA the new record and who or how Fates will go on after FWX, I have faith Jim will do what makes sense for him, Ray, and the future of Fates Warning and it's legacy.

Steve Zimmerman?..unlikely but naturally he'd have to come to mind.

The Soundscape drummer Lou Caldarola might be a possibility if his most current band "Your Name Hear" would allow. He doesn't incorporate as much electronic percussion as Mark does, but atleast he might be someone Jim might know (since Soundscape opened for Fates on more than 1 occasion) and his style may come to fitting.

Portnoy, Nick D'Virgilio, or Bill Bruford (from the Gordian Knot connection) might be possibilities just brainstorming names who might atleast be interested in playing on a future album.

AFA FWX...I cannot effing wait!.."Simple Human" totally kicked my ass when I heard it earlier this week. I wonder if copies will be available to buy at ProgPowerUSA in a few weeks..if not, Oct 5th cannot come fast enough!

As the King of all Softee, i must say, it is Time for Zonder to go.....he can add no more to the band. I suggest FW replaces him with former ENCHANT drummer Paul Craddick, since they sound more like them these days. Craddick would be a perfect fit

I agree...MZ's departure was devastating news at first. I've played drums for most of my life and had many influences, but none like Mark. What he has given to me over the past 15 years has shaped my own playing like no other. But...all good things must come to an end, even if it doesn't seem that the time is right, and I have faith that Jim will continue pushing FW into directions that won't ever compromise the integrity and honesty of the music or the listener.

Mark's swan song....a very sad day indeed.

Uhh - I hope that there are NO Nu-Metal-crappy influences on FWX... I couldn't stand that...

Hey! I like your speech, Ray: "as creative as possible", "a lot heavier", "more technical than any other record we've done"... That program looks great! So, you guys got my vote. :-D Now fulfill our expectations!
