09/21/2004 Entry: "Ray Alder signs on as vocalist for Redemption"
Ray Alder is Redemption’s New Vocalist
Sensory Records recording artists Redemption announced that Ray Alder, legendary vocalist of progressive metal icons Fates Warning and of his solo project Engine, has become Redemption’s vocalist. He is currently recording vocal tracks for Redemption’s second CD, tentatively titled The Fullness of Time, scheduled for release in early 2005.

I am so glad i'm not the only one who thought that that singer sounds a lot like John Arch...but I never thought that Ray was actually going to replace him. Either way Good Luck!

ok, just got a redemption cd from my brother and love it but, does anybody think its strange how ray alder replaced john arch and is now replacing a singer that to me sound exactly like john arch? all you john arch soundalikes watch your back.

I talked to Ron last night at a Dragonfly gig,and he did,nt know either what Jim's reasoning was for turning down his brother Bob.

That has its good side: if they turned down someone, then it means that they're actually looking for someone to replace Mark, so it's not the end of the band. ;-)
About Bobby Jarzombek: wasn't he working with "Iced Earth"? -- BTW, "Iced Earth" is not my type of band, but it certainly looks like a pretty decent gig to earn one's life. Anyways... why did Fates turned Bobby down? As a player he's AMAZING! But I understand that a band is a team; and if someone's personality or tastes or vision or wanted-salary or whatever doesn't fit the team, no matter how good he/she is, he/she won't join the team -- and in this case these are sad news for me, as I really admire those Jarzombek brothers.

I just found out that Fates turned down Bobby Jarzombek as Mark Zonder's replacement! Are you guys crazy?Fates choice for a new drummer better be a good one!!Jim sure runs a tight ship!!!

As regards to the website, I agree that it is useless. In a perfect world fates warning would be regarded as geniuses.. Incredible musicians, with each CD performance being performed differently and articulate. FWX is really pretty extrodanary compared to the junk all these other bands are putting out! I have not taken it out of my car yet since the release. I only hope Ray and Jim can keep it going! although Mark will be tremendously missed he is replaceable, and it should be noted that he had an incredible contibution to there success. He is an incredible drummer!!!! Fates fans do not give up yet.

You all are right ...and at the same time aren't. We all have opinions! I don't like FWX that much: that's a fact and that kind of frustrates me at the same time, period. And another thing that makes me sad is that I never was a big fan of John Arch, nevertheless his EP generated much more enthusiasm on me than this FWX -- of course, taste plays its role here. Anyway, I wish I was wrong in my previous comment. Hopefuly this is not the end and perhaps I'm just being excesively dramatic -- as someone said here. :-)

OOps.Sorry.Just a little frustrated with the lack of promotion with the new release.I mean the theme to this site is still dissconnected!!!Yeesh!!No updates,no new merchandise, nothing!!The band deserves more, you know, but I guess thats what happens when the bandmembers are involved in so many projects.
[ Just so you know, this site is not run by the band or the record label, it is merely my tribute to FW. While I try hard to keep it updated, sometimes "real life" takes priority. I've been looking at creating a new theme for the site based on the new album, but frankly I haven't been able to come up with anything interesting yet. If someone else wants to take a shot at it, go ahead and create a JPeg for this site that is 100 pixels high by 1600 pixels wide and send me an email and we can discuss it further.
As for lack of promotion, it is true that Metal Blade is a very small label and does not provide very much promotion for FW (visit the FW forum at www.ivorygate.com/forums for a note from Metal Blade about promotions. Specific post is here).

Jeff Davila, i hope you realize that i agree with you, i was just quoting Cartonpiedra earlier in the thread to express my disbelief in what he said...
Posted by Tom Dinolfo @ 10/19/2004 07:11 PM PST
Yeah,I actually wrote this!!!You cant keep doing the same thing over and over.Look at Iron Maiden. That's a perfect example of repetitiveness.I just applaud FWX for having a different feel unlike dissconnected while retaining the same energy through their music.Face it.The days of no exit, and guardian are over.Applaud them for their succesful experimentation this time around, because their was nothing new on dissconnected.

(((WHAT))) Did this guy actually write this? Let me pick my jaw up off the floor.
Original post: "Sadly, after listening to FWX I don't really think that Fates Warning still has the energy and the faith to move on. I think that this FWX album witnesses so. "Leave the past behind…" guys -- and that's OK: Zonder already was brave enough to admit the truth and take the initiative! posted by Cartonpiedra"
POOR LITTLE FELLA...

I heard the FWX and think it's really good and love how each song blends into the other. It's good experimentation that actually works this time around unlike dissconnected.FWX gets better with each listen. These songs actually stick in my head.I'm really happy with Fates this time around. My fears are put to rest.I dont know how to explain this but this album has kind of a Pink Floyd feel.COOL!

i am excited as i enjoyed the first redemption cd, for the record, the song ray sang on was the best sounding track on the CD. Rick M just didnt fit the style that well in my opinion and some tunes felt like he wasnt singing like he meant it. I really look forward to Ray giving your music the presence it deserves!!

I haven't heard it yet so i can't say if i like it or not. But i think that some of you are being extremely dramatic... keep in mind that even if this album is not as good as you expected, the same happened some time ago after the release of INSIDE OUT...
...and their next work was almost perfect.

Hilarious!

Well, I got one copy of FWX from the press guys, and I wasn't terribly impressed. I don't "dislike" it, but I cannot say I love it neither. I'm a fan of Ray Alder, but his vocal lines start sounding repetitive to my ears. IMHO, this new album doesn't have many new things to add to Disconnected and/or APSOG. It's not bad, but it's far from being groundbreaking. So said, I think that Redemption could actually be a good way to go for Ray -- in spite of Van Dyck's comments in this site. Sadly, after listening to FWX I don't really think that Fates Warning still has the energy and the faith to move on. I think that this FWX album witnesses so. "Leave the past behind…" guys -- and that's OK: Zonder already was brave enough to admit the truth and take the initiative!

I'm a little upset... You see today's the 9th of october and FWX was released few days ago... But I can't find it anywhere!! Where is the propaganda!? I have to look for reviews with Google and it doesn't find 'em so easy! I am damn sad! If the things work this way I don't sincerely know about FW's future.. They will be FOREVER a secondary name in music BUT THEY DON'T DESERVE IT!
Even fw.com has still the Disconnected artwork as basis... Not even a restyling?! This is not the way I thought things would've gone... I mean.. We're no talking about a boyband! I think FW has a weight in heavy music... Why doesn't somebody in the high spheres think like me?! There's not EVEN a news about the release.. *frustrated*
F!

Thanks for your comment Nick! I actually started to worry a bit about ray leaving fates after the previous posts here.
Looking forward to your new album with ray, redemption kicks ass!
Posted by berre @ 10/06/2004 01:14 PM PST
Nick from Redemption here. Just want to emphasize that Ray's involvement with Redemption has nothing to do with Fates winding down or him being less involved. It is a separate project that Ray wanted to join; it doesn't mean that his involvement with Fates is going to change in any way. So hopefully, there will simply be more music for you to enjoy.
Thanks for your interest.

Wake up and smell the coffee!!They all left for the reason. Is Joey Vera even with Fates anymore?
Posted by Jeff @ 10/05/2004 02:54 AM PST
It seems a bit like a different engine, but its all good sounding.

I am pleased because the Redemption song with Alder sounds awesome (although I don't have the redemption CD). But I see that as another step towards the end. After all, Dibiase, Aresti, Zonder...are all gone. Jim is really great but it turned out to be him writting all. What is left of the essence? Hope X is their greatest.
All these words and memories
and everything THEY were to me
THEY remain, THEY remain
THEY still remain.

which track does Ray sing on?
Posted by Robert @ 09/23/2004 10:06 PM PST
This is great! Ray did one track of the first Redemption album, and is was outstanding. His voice fits the music perfectly well. Can't wait to hear the new stuff.

That's great! have'nt heard the 1st Redemption cd but sounds like I would be into it. I just hope that FWX is'nt Fates Warning's final opus.
